Goanna Ag welcomes Damien Heintze as Commercial Manager, Victoria
New role reflects growing commercial footprint following Goanna Ag’s merger with AgByte.
Goanna Ag, Australia’s leading agricultural intelligence company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Damien Heintze as Commercial Manager for Victoria, a newly created role that reflects the company’s continued growth and commitment to delivering farm intelligence when it matters most.
Damien officially joined the team on 13 April 2025, becoming part of the Commercial team at a defining moment for the business. The recent merger with AgByte has significantly expanded Goanna Ag’s reach and capability across Australian agriculture, and the creation of this role is a direct result of that growth. By combining Goanna Ag’s expertise in IoT sensor networks and data analytics with AgByte’s strong regional knowledge and weather monitoring capabilities, the merged entity is now better positioned than ever to serve growers across key agricultural regions.
Damien brings a strong background in building and growing innovative agtech businesses, with successful tenures at CropX and, most recently, LoamBio. Based in north-west Victoria, he has deep roots in the agricultural communities he will serve, and a first-hand understanding of the decisions growers face every season.
In his new role, Damien will be responsible for selling and supporting Goanna Ag’s full range of solutions, spanning both the Goanna and AgByte product suites, across Victoria. His work will focus on connecting growers with the right tools at the right time, helping them move from data overload to clear, confident decisions in the field.
Damien says joining Goanna Ag was an easy decision and looks forward to being able to demonstrate a return on investment to growers.
“After gaining valuable skills and experience in agtech across my 28-year career, particularly with building market share, it felt like a "hand in glove" moment,” Damien said.
“Goanna Ag is a stable business having been in operation for more than 20 years. There is no replacement for experience and the technology offered to farmers is of the highest standard in terms of reliability and ease of use on the software platform.”
“Nothing gives me greater satisfaction professionally than sitting down with farmers and helping them understand what the data from soil moisture probes and canopy temperature sensors means to their irrigation decision making.”
Damien is from the Mallee Country of Northwest Victoria, from a mixed livestock and cereal farm. His career has been predominantly in agriculture (dryland and horticulture) in positions such as managing Australia’s largest water trading platform and as Australian Business Development Manager with CropX Technologies.
Jay Jalota, CEO of Goanna Ag says Damien’s appointment is a critical step in Goanna Ag’s expansion and diversification.
“Damien has a strong track record delivering on-farm solutions to irrigated and dryland clients, which is beneficial for our expansion and diversification,” Jay said.
“With his prior experience as a high performing sales leader at CropX, Damien’s appointment is a real benefit for our current and new clients.”
Damien’s appointment signals an important step in Goanna Ag’s regional expansion strategy. With tens of millions of unique data points, a merged product portfolio, and a team with decades of experience in precision agriculture, the company is well positioned to deliver smarter farm decisions, right when they matter most.
