For more than two decades, Goanna Ag has turned on-farm data into decisions growers can act on. What started as a single neutron moisture probe in a Goondiwindi cotton paddock has grown into a nationwide network of sensors, weather stations and inversion towers, giving farmers across every major crop type and growing region the intelligence they need, right when they need it.
Our story
Goanna Ag was founded in 2002 in Goondiwindi, Queensland, when our founders set out to solve a simple but critical problem: growers were making irrigation decisions with information that was days, sometimes weeks, out of date. Early work with neutron moisture probes evolved into near real-time soil moisture monitoring, and a collaboration with leading irrigation researchers introduced satellite imagery and predictive algorithms, laying the foundation for the data-driven farm intelligence platform we deliver today.
Since then, we've partnered with the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), the Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC), CSIRO and the University of Southern Queensland to build technology that is proven at scale, including WAND, Australia's spray drift and hazardous weather warning network, and GoField, the world's most advanced irrigation scheduling solution.
In 2025, Goanna Ag joined forces with AgByte, bringing together our IoT sensor network and data analytics expertise with AgByte's deep regional knowledge and advanced weather monitoring capability. Together, we're able to extend our data intelligence further, from irrigation and spray decisions through to broader weather-driven risks like smoke and hazardous inversions.
