Queensland Murray-Darling Basin Telemetry Project

The Queensland Murray-Darling Basin telemetry project offers 600 fully subsidised telemetry devices for surface water meters that are available on a first come first served basis. The fully subsidised price includes the telemetry device, installation and the first year of data services that is valued between $2000-$3000 (per device) subject to the type of surface water meter on site. This initiative ends on June 28th 2024. Do not miss out!

The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water is supporting water users to install compliant telemetry devices on surface water meters in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin.

This project aims to support water entitlement holders in complying with regulations and make tracking water movement easier and less time consuming. This initiative is an opportunity to embrace telemetry devices and streamline your farming operations, saving you time, reducing your expenses, and allowing you to leverage data analytics to enhance your end-of-season reporting and increase profits.

Participation is voluntary

Participation in this subsidy program is voluntary for eligible water entitlement holders. However, it's crucial to know that choosing not to participate may result in a missed opportunity to have the costs of telemetry implementation fully subsidised. If you opt out, you'll be solely responsible for the full cost of purchasing, installing, and setting up telemetry devices if you are required by law to have them installed in future. Queensland’s non-urban water measurement policy states the government’s intent to require telemetry on surface water meters in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin.

Let’s work together to ensure a greener and more prosperous future for Queensland agriculture.

Alternatively, you can still opt to install a GoMeter telemetry device, however, you will be responsible for covering the associated costs.

  • Certainly, you can see some user-friendly screenshots if you visit our GoMeter webpage.

  • The annual fee in your first year of use will be fully covered by the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water. After the first year, our annual subscription is $120 per annum, and this covers the telecommunication services and access to your data in our GoApp. Please be aware that this pricing is subject to potential adjustments in line with standard Goanna Ag price changes in the future, however, you will be notified in advance of any changes to this fee.

  • Ensuring the security and privacy of your data is a top priority for us at Goanna Ag, and we want to reassure our users that we have implemented measures to protect your information within GoApp. Here are some key points to provide assurance about our data security and privacy practices.

  • The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing, and Water will receive water usage data from your device/s. This data plays a pivotal role in aiding the department's water management and regulatory responsibilities. Similar to their existing procedures, they will conduct a thorough review of the data and engage closely with you to extract meaningful insights.

  • Queensland’s non-urban water measurement policy states the government’s intent to require telemetry on surface water meters in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin. As agriculture advances towards technology-driven farming practices, the adoption of smart technology, such as telemetry devices, will become increasingly necessary to enhance and promote sustainable farming practices. Participating in the subsidy program might be your best chance to offset the costs associated with implementing telemetry and staying ahead in the evolving landscape of agriculture.

If the invoice goes unpaid or you opt for a different service provider, your service with Goanna Ag will conclude, and your device will cease transmitting data to GoApp.
